Office of the Attorney General
The Office of the Parliamentary Counsel to the Government is a constituent part of the
Office of the Attorney General.
As an Assistant Parliamentary Counsel Grade II, you will be part of a specialised team of lawyers who
• draft Government Bills, including Bills to amend the Constitution, and amendments to Bills;
• draft Government Orders and some statutory instruments made by Ministers of the Government, including instruments made for the purposes of compliance with European Union obligations.
Candidates must be called to the Bar of Ireland and be enrolled as a Barrister in the State or have been admitted and be enrolled as a Solicitor in the State, and have significant experience as a practising Barrister or practising Solicitor in the State. In addition, they must have an ability to analyse complex issues and deliver high quality work in a fast-paced environment.
A panel will be formed from which future vacancies may be filled.
