Defence Forces Civilian Cyber Responder
The Department of Defence comprises both civil and military elements. There is close engagement and collaboration across both civil and military domains and a ‘whole of Government’ perspective.
The Report of the Commission on the Defence Forces 2022 recommended the substantial strengthening of the Defence Forces (DF) Cyber Capabilities. As part of this process, a Joint Cyber Operations Unit (JCOU) is being established. To support this, the Department now has vacancies for Defence Forces Civilian Cyber Responders who will be part of the JCOU team working on the development of DF Cyber Capability.
DF Civilian Cyber Responders will work in the Cyberspace Operations Section of the JCOU, supporting the operation of the DF Security Operations Centre (SOC) and acting as part of the DF Incident Response (IR) Function. Their duties will include operating, maintaining and developing the DF’s Cyber Incident Response function and the software tools required for the operation of the DF SOC.
