The market within which RTÉ is operating is constantly evolving. In the next decade, RTÉ will transform into an innovative, IP-based public service media provider. This exciting transition will make RTÉ fully integrated, digital-native, and personalised, offering new ways to meet the evolving needs of diverse audiences across a variety of devices. 

RTÉ is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer; a pivotal and influential role within the organisation. 

The Role 

Reporting directly to the Director General, the CFO will: 

  • Play a pivotal role in developing, monitoring and evaluating the overall organisational strategy, with particular responsibility for providing the overall financial strategy and direction to the organisation. 
  • Provide financial guidance and leadership to the Board, Director General and senior management on all aspects of business planning, while upholding the highest standards of financial and non-financial reporting. 
  • Provide leadership, direction and management to the finance function, and drive improvements in processes and controls. 
  • Be responsible for all internal and external financial reporting. 
  • Oversee treasury policy, tax matters and all financial aspects related to RTÉ’s pension schemes. 
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including regulatory and government bodies, and financial institutions. 

The Person 

RTÉ welcomes applications from candidates who have: 

  • An accountancy qualification (FCA, FCCA, CIMA). 
  • A minimum of 10 years’ proven financial leadership experience in a large, complex and commercial environment. 
  • Outstanding leadership qualities, with the ability to work collaboratively towards collective outcomes, inspiring and energising teams and colleagues. 
  • Demonstrable experience in shaping and leading the implementation of strategy across a business. 
  • Sound knowledge and expertise in International Financial Reporting Standards, treasury and tax matters, best practices in corporate governance, audit, risk management, and financial processes.
