Sanderson are partnering with a dynamic charity organisation seeking a dedicated Auditor to join their esteemed audit and risk department. As an Auditor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accountability and transparency across a diverse array of business areas, including targeted risk audits and governance assessments focusing on key policies and procedures.

This position offers a hybrid working model, combining remote work with office presence across multiple locations, including Dublin, Monaghan, Sligo, Clifden, Letterkenny, Galway City, Limerick, Cork, and Kilkenny.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine verification checks on various funded organizations to ensure that program funding is utilized for its intended purposes.
  • Evaluate the accounting systems of funded organizations to establish transparent audit trails between submitted expenditure returns and maintained financial records.
  • Assess the eligibility of expenditures to ensure compliance with program rules and conditions.
  • Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets and identify significant variances.
  • Evaluate internal control systems and assess performance outputs and value-for-money concerns.
  • Review annual financial statements and other submissions to regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure adherence to key program rules, contractual agreements, operating manuals, and best practice guidance.
  • Maintain detailed audit working paper files and conduct or assist with risk audits where necessary.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional recognised Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Minimum of 3 years of auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of charity regulations or experience within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Possession of a full driving license and access to a car for business purposes.
