HR Director

Sanderson has been retained on an exclusive basis to recruit an HR Director for UPMC Ireland. You will lead the strategy, operational planning and managing of HR programmes and staff with collaboration and alignment with UPMC International. You will align processes that will improve employee experience while maximising technology enablement. As a senior teammember you will have an engaging style and facilitate communications and relationships across the organisation.


  • Develop an HR Strategy which support operations and directly assists achievement of strategic objectives
  • Responsible and accountable for the strategic and operational delivery
  • Provide clear leadership and a focal point for Senior and Frontline Managers in the performance of their teams
  • Member of the Senior Management Team and key contributor to the development of the organisation
  • Ensure the development of a robust engagement strategy for the organisation that supports attraction and retention of talent and the cultural enhancements
  • Lead the transformation of the HR function
  • Collaboration with global COEs, devise project plans and programmes for national delivery
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to identify and implement organisational development programmes


  • Lead the development and integration of people policies and procedures across the network
  • Implementation and oversight of appropriate headcount management and workforce planning methodologies
  • Lead on industrial relations and employee relations matters across the organisation
  • Be responsible and accountable to the CEO and the broader C-Suite for the provision of consistent and timely data metrics and delivery against agreed KPIs
  • Ensure the HRIS is fully implemented and optimised to support business decision-making

People Management

  • Lead the transformation of the HR Team
  • Provide leadership for the team and ensure an effective learning environment
  • Promote an environment conducive to best practice, enhancing retention and good industrial relations
  • Maintain a high level of morale, good communications, team spirit and job satisfaction

Accreditation, Quality Improvement and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with relevant guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Lead on accreditation requirements as part of the organisation's accreditation programme (JCI)
  • Awareness of core objectives and kpi's and monitoring of performance against these standards
  • Participate in the requirements of the risk management programme

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant professional qualifications
  • 7-10 years HR Experience operating at senior level
  • 5+ years' delivering HR transformation / change
  • Experience in multi-site HR operations
  • Developing and implementing HR & Organisation Development Strategy
  • Strong Industrial Relations / Employee Relations
  • Change management
  • Healthcare experience (significantly beneficial but not essential)
