Role Purpose

Our client is seeking an Executive Officer, Finance to support our client's payroll process and general finance tasks. The postholder will engage with internal and external stakeholders following best practice, to enable efficient financial operations in the organisation. The Executive Officer, Finance will report to the Finance Operations Manager.

About the Team/Division

Finance and Procurement falls within our client's Corporate Services Division along with the the areas of of Governance, People and Organisational Development, Commission Secretariat and International Affairs.

The mission of the Corporate Services Division is to ensure that our client is an agile, well-run organisation, with motivated and capable staff. The division will ensure that our client operates to a high standard of corporate governance, effectively and in accordance with the Code of Practice on the Governance of State Bodies and our client's governing legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Management: Including payroll calculation and answering queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate as part of a team to produce time-sensitive financial reports and ensure they are completed accurately and submitted to the appropriate departments on time;
  • Support the Finance Team in monthly and day to day finance tasks including month end close process;
  • Assist with audits and addressing audit findings
  • Support the Finance Operations Manager with ad-hoc projects/tasks as required

Essential Criteria

  • 2 years of experience working in payroll with at least 100 employeess
  • Experience in bookkeeping;
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Good working knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF...);
  • High level of integrity and maintain confidentiality regarding all financial and sensitive information;
  • Willingness to collaborate and provide support to other team members within the finance department, including assisting with tasks and projects as needed;
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Interest in pursuing IPASS qualification;

Desirable Criteria

  • Part-qualified accountant or an interest in pursuing an accounting qualification;
  • IPASS qualification;
  • Experience working with month end process;
  • Experience working in payroll or finance in the public sector

Benefits, Package & Pay

  • This position is offered on a Permanent basis.  
  • Full time, 35 hrs per week
  • Annual Leave: 23 days per annum
  • The role will be a hybrid role combining home and office working. Our client's current hybrid policy is 2 days in the office.
  • Our client's office is located at One Shelbourne Buildings, Shelbourne Road, Dublin 4, D04 NP20.

  • This position is graded at the Executive Officer scale.
  • Successful candidates will be appointed on the first point of the scale.
