Executive Officer - Policy, Research, and Strategy

About Your New Job

  • Policy development: Support the development of policies addressing various media-related harms and issues, including the interests of children and vulnerable adults, illegal content, protection of democracy, fundamental rights, consumer rights, and online safety.
  • Strategy development: Assist in developing and reviewing our client's organisational strategy.
  • Research: Conduct and commission high-quality, ethical research to inform policy-making processes.
  • Data access: Lead the response to Article 40 of the Digital Services Act, processing applications for platform data from researchers globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support work activities: Assist in the implementation of work activities and support Line Managers and colleagues.
  • Project work: Contribute to and carry out project work as required.
  • Task management: Take ownership of assigned tasks, prioritising to ensure timely and high-standard completion.
  • Communication: Present material (written and oral) clearly, concisely, and convincingly.
  • Data management: Assist with the management of data and records, and curate library or other information resources.
  • Research: Conduct desk-based research to support the team's work.
  • Issue analysis: Analyse and prepare responses to issues, queries, and correspondence.
  • Knowledge sharing: Share information, knowledge, and experience with colleagues to help meet team and organisational objectives.
  • Administrative support: Perform administrative duties as required to support the team.

What Skills You Need

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ demonstrable experience in supporting and developing effective processes and workflows.
  • Interpersonal skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Project management: Proven experience in managing or supporting projects.
  • Organisational skills: Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to interpret, analyse, and manage a range of information sources.
  • Communication skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, including report writing and proofreading.
  • Time management: Ability to manage various tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Technical proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Related experience: Previous experience in a related role, including research administration, research support, policy development, or library and information support.
  • Public sector experience: Experience in a similar role in the public sector.
  • Supervisory experience: Previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • Irish language proficiency: Fluency in, or a working knowledge of, the Irish language.
