Senior Executive Assistant | 6-Month Temporary Contract | Hybrid | Royal Irish Academy

Are you an experienced Executive Assistant with an interest in publishing, research, and academic events? This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Royal Irish Academy (RIA), Ireland’s premier learned society, on a 6-month temporary contract supporting their Publications Department.

📍 Location:

19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, D02 HH58
Hybrid working: 2 days in office, 3 from home (onsite initially for training)

💶 Salary & Benefits:

  • Hourly rate: €22.43 – €25.94 per hour (equivalent to €40,822 – €47,210 per annum DOE)

  • 22 days annual leave (pro rata)

  • 35-hour working week

📅 Contract Duration:

6-month temporary contract with immediate start following successful interview.

🔎 About the Role:

You will play a key role in supporting the RIA’s publishing and research activities, helping publish books and journals, coordinate academic events, and assist with publicity efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Managing Editor and publications team

  • Assist with publishing, marketing, communications, and event organisation

  • Liaise with in-house staff, freelance staff, external partners, and suppliers

  • Manage records, process invoices and purchase orders, track income and expenses

  • Coordinate communications across multiple projects

  • Maintain accurate documentation and support day-to-day operations within the Publications Department

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Third-level degree

  • 2+ years’ experience in publishing, administration, or similar office environment

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Confident IT skills, especially in SharePoint and Teams

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment

Desirable:

  • Experience with invoice processing in the public sector

  • Working knowledge of Canva

  • Experience in bookkeeping or financial admin duties

  • Quick to learn new systems and processes
