About Your New Job

  • Verifications: Support the Controller function in developing, updating, and documenting processes and procedures for Risk-Based Management Verifications of the PEACEPLUS Change Makers projects.
    • Plan, schedule, and conduct on-site and desk-based verifications of project milestones/activities, outputs, and deliverables.
    • Develop verification plans and checklists based on project risk profiles, milestone schedules, and expenditure claims.
    • Verify the correct application of approved Simplified Cost Options (SCOs) and assist in reviewing and validating their use.
    • Conduct site visits to verify physical outputs and meet with project partners.
  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and timely verification reports.
    • Identify and document any irregularities, ineligible claims, or non-compliance issues.
    • Provide clear and constructive feedback to beneficiaries and support follow-up or corrective actions.
    • Contribute to internal assurance reporting and support programme-level audit preparation.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and secure records of all verification activities.
    • Record findings in relevant programme databases and systems.
    • Support ongoing improvement of verification procedures, templates, and guidance materials.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise effectively with internal programme management, project beneficiaries, Lead Partners, and other stakeholders.
    • Represent the PEACEPLUS Programme professionally during verifications.
    • Communicate verification findings clearly and collaborate closely with the Controller and wider Programme teams.

What Skills You Need

  • Essential:
    • Demonstrable experience in audit, financial verification, or compliance monitoring of grant-funded or publicly funded projects.
    • Experience in designing/developing/documenting audit and/or verification systems, processes, and procedures.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and assess both financial and activity-based evidence.
    • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and record-keeping.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
    • Proficient in MS packages (Word, Excel, Outlook), financial accounting systems, and SharePoint portals.
    • Willingness to travel throughout Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland, including overnight stays.
  • Desirable:
    • Familiarity with electronic monitoring systems such as JEMS.
    • Experience working in a cross-border or EU programme environment.
    • Knowledge of Interreg, PEACEPLUS, or other EU-funded programme rules.
    • Relevant qualification in auditing, accounting, finance, or programme management.
