DIGITAL PRODUCTION JOURNALIST (AUDIENCE)

Position Overview: To play a key role in shaping how Irish Examiner journalism is presented to readers and subscribers across digital platforms. Working as part of the Audience Unit, this position offers the opportunity to work at the heart of our newsroom ensuring our journalism reaches our audience with clarity, impact and speed. As part of this team, you would have a special responsibility for the promotion and presentation of our journalism to ensure that it reaches our audience and subscribers on the platforms where they want to find it.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance and promote our journalism by means of story management and enrichment on our digital platforms.
- Manage content flow on digital platforms, including headline testing and social media promotion, with the goal of growing the subscriber base
- Work closely with the Head of Audience to develop and use specialist knowledge in Search/SEO, Social, Data, AI and Graphics to maximise the reach of journalism and to grow and retain subscribers.
- Assist senior members of the team in the overall management of digital platforms and collaborate with all editorial departments.
- Assist with the issues of reader products to include compiling and sending digests, email newsletters and push notifications, and promote our journalism across all platforms.
- Work as part of the audience team, assist with the implementation of our social media strategy.
- Demonstrate good communications skills, flexibility and an ability to work with the latest technologies as part of a multi-skilled team
- Write online stories when required.
- Stay up to date with current digital trends and innovations to continuously improve our digital content and strategies.
- Perform other relevant digital production work as required by the Audience Unit Editor.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Sharp editorial judgement, a strong track record in digital journalism and excellent decision-making.
- Knowledge and experience in SEO.
- Proficiency in using content management systems (CMS) and digital production tools.
- Familiarity with multimedia content creation and editing (images, video, audio).
- Experience with social media platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail.
