Healthcare assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with a variety of care needs. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, dignity, and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including washing, dressing, and toileting.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and the use of mobility aids.
• Support with preparing meals, feeding (where required), and ensuring nutritional needs are met.
• Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and general organisation.
• Offer emotional support, companionship, and reassurance.
• Administer medication (following appropriate training and guidelines).
• Observe, record, and report any changes in clients’ health or behaviour to the senior team.
• Promote independence, dignity, and respect at all times.
• Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
• Follow all safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety policies.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in a care assistant or similar support role essential.
• A naturally caring, patient, and empathetic nature.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high standards of care.
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality best practices.
• Willingness to undertake training and continuous development.
• A relevant care qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care) is desirable but not required.
• A valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
