Job Summary
Vision Contracting is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to manage day to day procurement across multiple construction projects. A key requirement of this role is strong knowledge and experience working with Dublin based merchants and the wider regional supply chain, supporting our Dublin & Leinster located site operations.
The role will be based in our Cork office, working in conjunction with the existing Purchasing Team, you will play a critical part in developing and maintaining supplier relationships within the Leinster region, ensuring continuity of supply, competitive pricing, and proactive support for live projects. Regular travel to the Dublin office will be required to build and strengthen this function.
Key Activities
Project Procurement
- Procure materials, plant, for assigned projects
- Analyse returns and prepare recommendations for approval
- Negotiate pricing within agreed parameters
- Place orders once approved
- Track long-lead items and critical materials
Site Support
- Act as primary procurement contact for Project Managers and Site Managers
- Attend site meetings when required
- Resolve delivery issues quickly to avoid programme delays
- Coordinate call-offs and phased deliveries
- Manage substitutions and alternative sourcing where needed
- Travel required weekly to our Dublin office
Commercial Control
- Support Quantity Surveyors during procurement and delivery
- Ensure purchases align with budgets and cost plans
- Maintain accurate procurement records
- Highlight cost risks or supply issues early
Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Dublin & Leinster based merchants and suppliers
- Use detailed knowledge of the Dublin construction supply chain to support procurement and site delivery
- Act as a key procurement contact for suppliers supporting Dublin projects
- Monitor supplier performance and address issues proactively
- Support the ongoing development of Vision Contracting’s supplier base in the Dublin region
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 - 7 years construction buying experience
- Background with Irish main contractors or major subcontractors
- Proven experience procuring building materials
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of Irish construction supply chains
- Comfortable working directly with site teams
- Quantity Surveying experience is a distinct advantage
