Assistant Designer – Menswear
Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim
£Excellent DOE

If you have a proven track record of designing apparel and planning garment collections, this is an exceptional opportunity to make your mark with a leading fashion house.

Established for over 90 years, our client is a reputable fashion house of mainly menswear brands, designed in-house and manufactured offshore, with links to retailers in the UK, ROI and Europe. The company has a strong brand portfolio and is recognised for its outstanding customer service and high levels of quality. An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Designer to join their team in Carrickfergus.

Within a fast-paced and exciting environment, you will have the chance to push your abilities and shape our client’s future product range.

As an Assistant Designer, you will be tasked with creating outstanding collections that are consistent with our client’s brands and meet with the current marketing objectives.

Specifically, you’ll work as part of a Design/Buying Team to develop apparel that conforms to brand statements and market needs. You will review trends through research, source suitable fabrics, trims, materials and accessories and develop both on-trend and classically styled products.

You will plan ranges for entire portfolios and accessories, maintaining proper quality standards and controls and creating all the additional presentations, branding, labelling and packaging to accompany the products.

Additionally, your role will involve:

- Working with Designers to co-ordinate work across ranges
- Supporting the Sales Team by providing samples, prototypes and pre-production offerings and informing them of lead times, pricing and requirements
- Preparing pattern cards
- Creating production folders
- Developing new ideas for reviewing and supporting product development processes and presentations

So, is this the role for you? If so, you will need:

- Previous experience designing apparel
- Experience of preparing and planning a garment collection
- Experience of sourcing and selecting fabric, trims and accessories
- Experience of designing to brand guidelines
- Experience of quality management
- To be educated to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent

As an Assistant Designer, you must be self-motivated with a great eye for detail and strong communication skills. Enthusiastic and driven, you must also have an analytical mindset and the ability to work on your own initiative.
