Our client, a well-known non-profit organisation based on the South side of Dublin are now seeking a Head of Finance.

This role requires a high level of leadership, independence and agility, while providing direction to the service in the areas of finance management, corporate strategy and planning, and corporate governance. Experience within a similar role in NFP/Public Sector is important.

The Role

As the Interim Head of Finance, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Accounting Department so that it performs its functions effectively, reliably and cost efficiently and meets reporting deadlines
  • Ensuring that accurate monthly management accounts are prepared on a timely basis with an analysis of all significant variances from budget
  • Establish strong working relationship with the finance section of the Health Service
    Executive to ensure that adequate funding is provided to meet the service's budgeted
    financial requirements.
  • Meet the reporting requirements, including Service Level Agreements, Annual
    Compliance Statements, and any ad hoc requests for financial information, of the
    Health Service Executive.
  • Supervising the accounting aspects of the fundraising activities to ensure segregation of duties and that fundraising database and finance accounting systems are reconciled each month
  • Overseeing the annual statutory accounts and liaise with the company's auditors to ensure that the audit is completed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Management of cash flow and monitor the cash position monthly.
  • Management of business relationships with financial institutions to ensure optimum trading conditions.
  • Management of working capital and surplus funds
  • Ensuring that the monthly payroll is accurately produced in accordance with the agreed schedule and approve monthly
  • Administration of the nominated health agencies superannuation scheme
  • Managing insurance arrangements
  • Managing the finance team against agreed KPIs through clear direction, delegation and regular feedback on key activities, with provision for succession
  • Working with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation
  • Company secretarial, governance and statutory responsibilities
The Person

The ideal Head of Finance will be a strong people manager with excellent team building skills and a decisive approach. You will also possess:

  • An ACA/ACCA/CIMA/FCCA/FCA qualification (fetac level 7).
  • 5 years in a management position - preferably within the Charity/NFP/Health Sector.
  • Experience in procurement practices.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong experience of dealing with the HSE for funding purposes.
  • A good knowledge of organisation and delivery of health services
