Telecoms Hardware Engineer required for a Telecoms Software firm based in Sandyford. The purpose of this role is to provide installation and configuration support for clients in the Telecommunications industry, working onsite as required (up to 20% of the time). The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Troubleshooting hardware performance issues
  • Troubleshooting software output issues upon installation
  • Installation and configuration of IP monitoring devices like Gigamon
  • Taking ownership of customer trouble tickets to conclusion
  • Preparing Method of Procedures for change requests
  • Occasion On-call work
To get this role you will have 3rd level qualification and at least 3 years experience in a commercial IT environment providing support to external clients at all levels, from Engineers to CEOs. You will need knowledge and experience of most of the following:

  • Trouble-shooting system faults using server log files, messages etc
  • OS Installation & Troubleshooting (Linux, Red Hat, Ubuntu & CEntOS)
  • Configuring Software and Hardware RAID arrays
  • Server performance monitoring tools
  • Packet analysis tools.
  • Telecommunication Architecture, specifically IP components
  • HP blades and SAN systems
  • Script languages e.g. bash, perl, pyton etc.
  • System backups and restore
  • Exposure to and knowledge of IP based technologies (GPRS/GTP, LTE etc.)
