This is a 9 month fixed term contract with possibility of extension.
Working within the Supply Base Engineering group, this Engineer will be supporting the production of Mechanical Products & Assemblies with specific focus on Sheet metal fabrication, plastics , finishing, assembly & system integration processes.
The primary interfaces will be with the Supply Base Management Groups in Cork Ireland, the US and in Asia, as well as the contract manufacturers (suppliers) for Mechanical Fabrication, Assembly and system level integration.
Specific duties will include quality management, supplier product and process conformance management & supplier development consistent with technology & compliance roadmap, and support for new product introduction. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work within and lead cross functional multi disciplined teams.

THE ROLE;
* Global Technical Management on a number of major regional & remote suppliers driving all initiatives, qualifications, projects, availability and quality management issues
* Development of key suppliers; Continually drive improvements in product quality, process quality and manufacturing support for the Regional Mechanical supply chain
* Conduct visits to the supply base providing constructive feedback and development opportunities
* Support NPI programs; Direct all NPI related qualifications at the supply-base co-ordinating with other members of the SBM groups both locally and at corporate level
* Ensure supplier achieves & maintains compliance to regulatory product & corporate social responsibility requirements
* Travel ? Regular travel to Central & Eastern Europe, occasional travel to the US & Asia
* Support Requests for quotations & new business development opportunities within the supply base.
* Budget and validate NRE tooling charges at the supply base
* Manage the day to day technical issues leading cross functional teams to resolution
* Provide effective updates to management and the Global Supplier management team
* Conduct supplier reviews & audits on a regular basis
* Qualify new lines, line moves, product transfers and site transfers
* Act as a reference point for any queries related to the supplier & related product quality in the mechanical and system integration space.
* Leadership of major quality & cost driven initiatives within the Supply chain
* Screen Engineering Change Orders and manage their implementation at the supply base
* Represent the Cork facility on strategic development initiatives including the development of the Global mechanical supply chain
* Collaborate with the US and Asian teams providing leadership and developing the team skill set and knowledge base
REQUIREMENTS;
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within and lead, cross functional teams.
* Strong experience & expertise in Mechanical manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* In depth understanding of basic Engineering principles.
* Self Starter, capable of working on own initiative.
* Operational command of Microsoft outlook, Excel and Word. Oracle or SAP experiences an advantage.
* Strong technical background with a 3rd level Degree qualification or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Manufacturing disciplines.
* Supplier Management / NPI / Integration experience an advantage particularly in the following areas; Electro-Mechanical Integration, Sheet Metal fabrication, Plastics or Die cast Molding.
* 4 years of relevant engineering experience
