Principal Colour Chemist with 5+yrs experience in a colour formulation development role required for permanent role in Bray.

PURPOSE OF JOB

  • To support the Colour Strategy by leading the growth of formulation science in the arena of 'Color' cosmetics.
  • To be the experts in core technlogies such as hot-pour, emulsions, dispersions and powder technologies.
  • To develop and deliver new innovative concepts from research through to Final products according to colour segmentation and strategy
  • To cooperate cross-functionally with all NPD functions such as Marketing, Packaging dev., claims support etc. to guarantee smooth library growth and delivery
  • Lead and drive Colour Formulation Technology
  • Work collaboratively with all categories to scope and define project objectives regarding innovative technologies for the future
  • Work closely with rest of technology and colour team and Formulation categories to understand library gaps and needs
  • Own and drive formulation library development for all colour products across all price bands and complexity to meet future needs.
  • Develop prototypes to enable investigation and testing of new technologies and ingredients.
  • Investigate the full potential and limitations of new materials, processes and technologies to ensure maximum benefit and exploitation for the business.
  • Gather, interpret and apply strategic Technical Insights
  • Participate in relevant Innovation and Ideation process.
  • Support the development of the 'Natural' Strategy from the colour technical perspective
  • Work closely with suppliers of raw materials and other external technologies to maximise commercial benefit
  • Ensure all relevant stability, testing and paperwork is available to enable technologies to be able to enter the New Product Development Process with minimal risk.
  • Work closely with all categories to exploit and derive commercial benefit from new developed technologies.
  • Deliver projects according to agreed implementation plans and processes e.g. GURU process, Colour strategy, CCS activity plans
  • Lead Innovation and Ideation process for CCS e.g. R&D showcase, Booths responsibility

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good first Degree in a scientific discipline
  • Extensive knowledge of cosmetic ingredients and its usage within colour cosmetics and beyond
  • Good knowledge within process development/pilot plant and factory level .
  • 5+ years experience in a colour formulation development role or similar role in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical or related industry.

  • Proven track record of investigative approach particularly in areas that are unfamiliar.
  • Lateral thinker with proven ability to generate creative solutions to problems
  • Self motivated and capable of working on own initiative

  • Flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Good communication skills and experience in tailoring communications to meet the needs of a variety of different stakeholders.
