Substation Design Engineers - High Voltage
Our Client is one of Europe's Leading engineering & consultancy organisations. They build, own & operate power stations, as well as providing a full range of engineering & consultancy services to client in the power sector worldwide.
Their expertise covers all aspects of energy projects, from concept to development to operation & maintenance. They are a trusted partner in the industry and have carried out projects in over 115 countries, having a proven track record in investing & running major power projects.
Substation Design Engineers (Voltage Range: 10kV - 400kV) will be based in the High Voltage Group. The work of the High Voltage Group is dominated by the detailed engineering design of distribution and transmission facilities for clients. Currently much of this work is based in Ireland.
Responsibilities Include:
Detailed design covering all aspects of H.V. equipment (switchyard layouts, busbar arrangements, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, etc.)
Detailed design of secondary control & protection systems including auxiliary supplies, signal/alarm systems, relays, etc.
Conceptual design studies and reports
Preparation & interpretation of technical specifications & enquiry documentation
Tender evaluation & technical management of material framework contracts
Development of design processes
Contract administration, construction supervision, project management
Coaching & development of junior designers
Requirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years' experience.
A background in the application of protective relaying schemes, based on modern numerical relays, for HV transmission systems would be an advantage.
Experience in a utility/consulting environment would be preferred but manufacturing or contracting experience could also be relevant.
Organised & adaptable with a flexible approach to work.
Ability to work on own initiative & to strict deadlines.
Strong ability to prioritise with excellent organisational skills.
Excellent Communication & report writing skills.
