2 Excellent opportunities has arisen for Senior EEG Technicians to work in Hospitals in Cork & Dublin . These are 2 seperate role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the general direction and control of the Line Manager, the Senior Clinical neurophysiology Technician will be responsible for the following:
  • Explain the procedures to the patient to obtain the patient's co-operation necessary for a complete examination. Checks the patient's medical chart for orders and special needs.
  • Perform Nerve Conduction Studies in a highly skilled, patient-appropriate manner, recognises normal and abnormal results, and recognises and takes reasonable steps to eliminate physiological and non-physiological artefact. Prepares a summary report for the Consultant Clinician
  • Performs Routine and Sleep-deprived EEG's and Evoked Potentials. Prepares a summary report for the Consultant Clinician
  • Performs bed side EEG studies in the intensive care unit or outside the department understanding the special technical requirements of these areas.
  • Possesses the specialised skills required to maintain a continuous Video EEG / Epilepsy Monitoring Unit service
  • Is able to carry out polysomography.
  • Adheres to his/her training regarding ethical responsibilities and confidentiality.
  • Conforms to all Departmental, as well as Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintains appropriate interpersonal skills with patients, colleagues, physicians and other hospital staff.
  • Maintains all instrumentation in excellent working order, checking calibration and making minor maintenance adjustments and repairs deemed by the instrument manufacturer as appropriate and safe.
  • To be responsible for equipment checks in the department, keeping all records logged. And to contact companies when necessary should any problems arise with any equipment.
  • Also to ensure accurate records and departmental statistics are kept using computerized systems as appropriate.


  • Requirements:

  • Obtained the Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology Examination (ECNE) Part 1
  • Possess the Technician Certificate (MPPM) from the Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent
  • 3 Years plus post qualification experience
