Reporting to the General Secretary, the person appointed will be responsible for the development and implementation of internal, external and online communications strategies. Managing the Party’s Press and Research office, leading and motivating a small dedicated team, acting as formal spokesperson for the Party; handling media queries and relations along with inputting into internal member and online communications programmes will be key elements of this senior management role.
Candidates, preferably but not necessarily, with a degree in communications, public relations or a related field, will be able to demonstrate a strong track record in communications, public affairs, public relations and in building productive relations with media, and other relevant stakeholders. They will combine an understanding of both politics and the media with team leadership and management skills. A full position description is available from MERC Partners.
