Production Manager

As a member of management, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all production. Production activities include Assembly, Injection Moulding, Steel Production, Rubber Production, Packing, Dispatch, Toolmaking, procurement and Inventory Control. As a member of the Management team you will be a key contributor in defining the company strategy and ensuring it's delivery. You will also be a key contact point for sister sites and support global production initiatives.

Production Management
  • Management of day-to-day production operations to conform to company standards, ensuring quality, output, customer delivery and cost targets are achieved. Effective cascading of targets and performance feedback to all production staff.
  • Implement continuous improvement activities to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Understand product/labour costing and identify measures that lead to increased yields, reduced cycle times and costs. Management of production problem investigations and implementation of counter measures and follow up actions. Identifying & driving factory automation initiatives.
  • Lead the production and support teams and ensure effective communications through regular 1x1s and team meetings. Develop area supervisors through coaching and training.
  • Generation of capacity plans. Understand Production capacity and define model for same to achieve higher levels of productivity and efficiency. Review measurements and data collection that is in place and improve where necessary.
  • Propose and implement changes in staffing levels, layout, capital equipment etc. to provide additional capacity as appropriate. Drive lean practices across all areas. Address factory layout constraints and workflow to yield the highest level of efficiency/output.
  • Work with quality team to continuously improve and implement the quality system of the company to ISO standards. Preparation and review of Corrective and Preventative Actions.
  • Supervise and ensure company compliance with Health and Safety procedures. Role model good practice.
  • Responsible for project activities in the production department including ad-hoc projects in conjunction with sister sites. Identification of new product introductions/ migrations and the execution of same.


MRP Planning/ Master Scheduling/ Inventory Control/IT
  • Development and management of Master Scheduling, MRP Planning process and master data maintenance review processes. Ongoing System and process development to improve efficiencies and production scheduling. Exploit the IT MRP system capabilities to drive better reporting and improved processes.
  • Responsibility for inventory control management and ensuring stock holding levels are reviewed and at optimum levels. Management of buyer/planner and associated tasks.
  • Liaise & Communicate with intercompany customers regarding order status. Primary point of contact for all production matters from parent company.
  • Implement SAP for production and procurement activities in line with group roadmap.
  • Responsible for site IT and all associated tasks


People Management
  • Creating and maintaining a positive employee relations environment, you are responsible for management and motivation of staff, the handling of all personnel issues, employee disciplinaries and grievances
  • Continual, effective and consistent performance management of staff in line with the Company performance management program.
  • Manage personnel and work allocation within production department, includes activities such as weekly job rotation in assembly area, cross training requirements etc.
  • Carry out labour requirement planning, recruitment, staff training and development, as
  • appropriate. Induction program for new hires in production.
  • Administration duties include time and attendance system for all staff, holiday planning, Back Order review, travel planning, You will monitor daily absenteeism/lateness, and liase with the Finance department on attendance/pay anomalies.


Education/Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering/ Production/ Manufacturing or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in WCM environment at management level. Experience of implementing lean manufacturing initiatives required. Formal training in this area is desirable.
  • Experience of managing upwards of 15-30 reports is essential.
  • Working knowledge of SAP MRP is required. SAP implementation experience is advantageous.
  • Qualification in APICS would be an advantage
