Automotive Project Manager with 3+yrs of experience as a project manager in the automotive industry ideally within a multinational manufacturing environment required for by multinational in Galway.
Reporting to: Division Projects Director
Responsibility: Operational manager of a Project Team, the Project Manager (PM) drives his project, or portfolio of projects, from business acquisition until transfer to the plant, after Start of Production, ensuring a flawless product launch, achieving the defined project objectives (Quality, Timing, Project Cost, Gross Margin, Performance, including specific internal objectives assigned to the project) and ensuring Customer Satisfaction on the project.
Key Tasks:
- Team management : on a daily basis, and with the PTMs (Project Team Members), the Project Manager (PM) : Leads the PTMs : organizes and distributes the work, assign tasks, gives orientations, defines priorities, holds the daily QRQC meeting and the weekly Project Team meeting. Performs the basic HR processes under the PM’s responsibility, as defined in the CIP. Motivates and creates a team spirit.
- Customer management : PM has delegation of responsibility from the Division General Manager concerning customer relation specific to the project, and is consulted on divisional issues that could affect the relation. PM ensures through clear communication with the customer, that both explicit and implicit customer requirements are well understood and taken into account. Researches permanently the complete satisfaction of the Customer. Follows through on customer requests and complains, and remains engaged to ensure the Customer is satisfied.
- Decision making : ensures the necessary decisions are made at the right time, with the appropriate information (data, facts), at the appropriate escalation level, be it by the PTMs, the PM, the Functions or the Valeo standard decision making bodies (Design Review, Sourcing Committee, Project Validation Committee, Project Management Committee). Represents the project in the PVC and PMC meetings.
- Build and maintain a network of relationships in all Functions (R&D, Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Quality and Manufacturing) : Clarify scope and expectations on the project.
Escalate issues, seek support, expertise, decision. Persuade, convince, and influence the decision makers. Cooperate effectively, even under stress conditions. - Scope management : ensures the project scope is clarified with the customer and internally. Ensures that each scope change request is identified, its QCD impact is analyzed, and a formal decision is made and communicated.
- Lessons learned management : ensures the lessons learned on previous projects are constantly incorporated.
- Development process management : ensures that the project development processes are followed by the project. Monitors the activities and deliverables the PM is responsible for, and controls the work progress for the activities under the responsibility of a PTM.
- Time management : with the project team, schedules the project, monitors progress, and ensures the Customer milestones and the Valeo end of phase dates are met.
- Resource management : with the project team, regularly estimates the resource needs, ensures the necessary human and equipment resources are made available for the project, and that the project costs remain within the project objectives.
- Profitability management : with the project team, breaks down overall project objective into smaller objectives assigned to the PTMs. Manages the developments costs, investments, product gross margin in order to ensure the global project profitability objective defined in the CAA/IAR. Manages actual, forecast at the end of project, and the plan to reach objective.
- Risks and issue management : with the project team, anticipates, acts quickly and decisively to mitigate the general project risks (ARGP) and to solve the issues (SLI). Proactively seeks information, support, and expertise within the organization when appropriate, and does not give up until the issues are closed.
- Business Processes : Ensure the deployment of processes defined
Requirements:
- Must have at least 3 years of experience as a project manager in the industry
- Undergraduate degree (minimum 4 years), graduate degree preferred but not
Mandatory - Experience working with BMW and/or Daimler is a distinct advantage
- Language: English required, either French or German a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of Product / Process technology or ability to acquire it through specific product / process training
- Management / Leadership
- Finance understanding
- Experience of Business Acquisition phase and of SOP
- Previous Automotive experience highly desirable
- Applicants must have a mindset of continuous improvement.
