Process Engineer with 5yrs experience required for 12mth contract with leading medical deivces company in Athlone.

This position is being offered initially as a 1 year fixed term contract.

In this role you will be responsible for and have the authority for the management and provision of Technical Leadership, through sound Project Management principles, to manufacturing equipment, processes, products and resources.

Responsible for delivering Capital Projects and ‘Best Practice’ methodologies that support highly efficient processes and consistent product output to the Quality satisfaction of all customers internal and external.

Interested applicants for this role should have:

Education: Bachelors degree in a Science/Technology/Engineering related discipline. Significant relevant experience in Plastics technology is a pre-requisite (3 to 5 years minimum).

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years relevant and recent experience in the implementation of capital and process solutions in a highly regulated environment;

Proven track record in process problem solving, execution of validations to FDA requirements

Possess project management and execution experience with formal training, equipment design and problem solving expertise demonstrating a successful track record in these areas.

Seasoned knowledge and experience with the deployment of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Be comfortable in measuring process capability, Cp/Cpk and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

Ideally you will be certified to minimum Green Belt in Six Sigma (DMAIC).

Ideally Project Management training e.g. IPMI, PMP, Diploma.

You should have well developed analytical, design, numerical and computer skills and the ability and versatility to combine hands-on process activities with theoretical knowledge and expertise.

Role Responsibilities:

1. PEOPLE:
• Establish a close working relationship with department Team Leaders, Machine Setters and Operators across all shifts;
• Report and communicate effectively with the Management Functions on an ongoing basis;
• Inform the appropriate personnel on all production line issues and changes;
• Develop and establish strong and effective working relationships with Planning and Materials Management, Suppliers and Opex Leaders at a high level towards improving manufacturing performance, efficiency and to assess and implement potential cost savings.

2. PROCESS / EQUIPMENT:
• Manage the design, implementation and validation of Capital Projects using effective Project Management tools and techniques;
• Provide technical back-up as required to resolve processing problems;
• Monitoring of equipment and process flows to ensure high levels of performance and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) or OPE (Overall Process Effectiveness);
• Monitor process performance in terms of personnel, equipment and process capability, material inputs and planning demands;
• Set out Training Plans for Machine Setters and Operators and execute Training meticulously with follow up auditing to check training effectiveness;
• Set out and present plans for the improvement of processes, efficiencies and production methodologies;
• Co-ordinate the planning and execution of line trials with appropriate personnel;
• Implement Start-Up check disciplines carried out by Machine Setters;
• Implement Autonomous Maintenance disciplines to be carried out by Machine Setters and Operators;
• Continuously focus on ways to reduce Change-Over times, reduce Scrap and Non-Value-Added Activities;
• Assess standard costs assigned to processes through measurement of takt times and resource requirements. Make recommendations of appropriate changes to the management team (followed by implementation of agreed changes);
• Manage the implementation of Lean activities to improve process layout and line ergonomics;

3. SYSTEMS:
• Ensure Capital Project spend forecasting is accurately managed and delivered on;
• Pursuance of product output to agreed Quality standards and validated parameters;
• Planning and execution of Protocols and Validations;
• Planning and execution of CAPA (Corrective And Preventative Action);
• Support the implementation of SPC in assigned areas as appropriate;
• Implementation and daily review of Key Performance Measures (KPM’s) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE);
