CHIEF EXECUTIVE
BirdWatch Ireland is Ireland's largest nature conservation charity, dedicated to protecting Ireland's wild birds and their habitats. With over 12,000 members and continuing to grow strongly, BirdWatch Ireland is active all around the country through it full-time staff, dedicated volunteers and branch network. With a staff of around 35, the organisation is involved in practical conservation work and scientific research, as well as policy and advocacy, both within Ireland and internationally through its BirdLife International partners.
We seek to recruit a Chief Executive to lead the organisation, working with our Board and staff to resource and deliver an ambitious 10-year forward strategy. This is both an exciting and a challenging opportunity for the right person to make a real difference for nature conservation and the quality of life in this country.
To be considered for this post you will be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership and team-building skills, together with a strong track record in the delivery of successful projects in a senior management role. You will have a strong commitment to organisational excellence, and be prepared to lead by example. You will have the willingness and the ability to make things happen in spite of obstacles such as resource constraints, resistance from vested interests or indifference. You will be good at identifying and forging strategic partnerships, whilst not losing focus.
In addition, experience in any of the following areas will be advantageous:
· nature conservation
· charity/non-governmental sector
· fundraising
· public relations
· use of online media for promotion
A full Job Description is available on the BirdWatch Ireland website.

Candidates should email full personal and career details, including the names of two references, by Friday 27th August 2010 to Cara Walsh quoting reference BWI-CE in the subject line. Interviews for this position will take place in early September in Dublin.
