Power Systems Engineer (Protection, Modelling) - Dublin
An established company in the field of power systems is looking to recruit an experienced power systems engineer to work at their Dublin offices.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Experience)
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- At least 4 years experience in electrical engineering with at least 2 years working in area of protection setting and coordination.
- Competence in the Principles and Application of Power System Protection.
- Power system modelling and analysis (load flow / short circuit) using PSS/E and/or other relevant analysis analysis tools.
- Knowledge of protection technology and protection scheme design
- Excellent Technical/IT skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Full driving licence
Key Responsibilities of this role include:
- Calculation of protection relay settings for and the configuration of electromechanical protection schemes. Carry out power system modelling and analysis (load flow, fault calculations etc) to support the setting and co-ordination of protection devices.
- Specification of protection requirements for system developments
- Selection, design, configuration and type testing of new protection schemes.
- Participate in meetings with other parts of the company, with the asset owner and various other stakeholders.
- Development of procedures and systems for the section for the management of protection devices.
- Occasionally witness protection testing/commissioning.
