OUR CLIENT IS SEEKING TO RECRUIT A SAFETY ENGINEER

Safety Engineer: Fixed Term Contract - 11 Months

Your primary role will be to provide engineering and consulting services; advising and assisting customers, enabling them ensure effectiveness of safety systems and legislative compliance.

The Role:

Based on current legal requirements, you will participate in HAZOPS or conduct on-site risk assessments and evaluation of management systems, systems of work, processes, plant, equipment and machinery. You will deliver customer focussed safety services to all our customers - mainly in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, and food & drink sectors - assuring total customer satisfaction. You will also serve as leader/technical contributor in the development of solutions to meet our customers' needs.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the petrochemical, pharmaceutical or food & drink industries; and have:

  • A relevant degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related discipline. A recognised post-graduate safety qualification at either Diploma or Masters level in H&S will be a distinct advantage.
  • 4+ Years' experience in EHS management, EHS engineering or in other safety functions in industrial (preferably manufacturing) environments.
  • The ability to develop immediate credibility across a variety of target audiences
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral; and computer skills - MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and work independently; and in a team setting.
  • Proven capacity to work under pressure and to meet both internal and external deadlines.
  • Proven influencing and collaboration skills, and ability to work cross functionally.
  • Strong enthusiasm to succeed and meet/exceed customer and personal goals, objectives and targets.
Desirable:

It is desirable to have knowledge and experience relating to some of the following areas:

  • Process Safety Risk Assessment in an FDA/cGMP environment.
  • Process Safety Design and Process Variables/Control Systems.
  • Qualitative Risk Analysis, e.g. HAZOP Studies.
  • Semi-Quantitative Risk Analysis, e.g. LOPA to IEC 61511 Standard, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIF's).
  • Fully-Quantitative Risk Analysis and process safety calculations, e.g. release rate of flammable leaks and similar consequence modelling, FMEA, FTA, etc.
  • ATEX Compliance Assurance & EPD Development. Evaluation of explosion detection, protection and mitigation solutions.
  • Evaluation of Basis of Safety for safe and compliant chemical processing.
  • Evaluation of Dangerous/Hazardous Substances and Chemical/exothermic Reactions.
  • Machinery, Plant & Equipment Technical Risk Assessments.
  • Workplace inspections and assessments.
  • Chemical Risk Assessments.
  • OHSAS 18001 & Management System Auditing.
  • AutoCAD.
